Cow Boys

Good grief – how inspiring were the boyhood years, when cowboys and Indians populated the black-and-white, tiny little television screen. When Colts were constantly smoking, the Bonanza Ranch hosted the first men's group home, and the giant John Wayne was busy cleaning up the Wild West. Good grief – how discoloured and yellowed this romance appears today. Isn't it?

The Wild West never existed. And today, it exists even less. For decades, Hollywood and television producers have built a legend: that in the world's oldest democracy, the law passed from Parliament to the fist. The faster, the stronger, the nastier man wins the fight on the dusty main street – right in front of the saloon.
Such scenarios would not be conceivable in the modern states of America, not even remotely.

But who were these men, always appearing heroic in film and television? Actors? Ah, yes.
And who invented all these incredible cowboy stories? Karl May and his ilk? Hardly.

A glance into the history of cattle herders might let a few clichés vanish into the prairie dust. These "boys on horseback" were actually, a few hundred years ago, busy driving enormous herds of cattle across the land – in search of good grass.

Fifty years ago, we hippies were also constantly did the same search.

Conclusion: Both professions were honourable occupations of peace-loving young people on the prairie of life.

But the question remains: Why did some departments of the cowboy trade bid farewell to the law?
Why did they – with Colt, fist, and without conscience – set themselves above the law? In reality. And in fiction.
Something must have driven these men to either ignore the law or bend it entirely in their favour.

How relieved we are that this brutal era of lawlessness in the USA is over. Sorry, John Wayne, Henry Ford, and company.

Today, in the modern, freedom-loving United States of America, a prosperous society of modernity flourishes.
A country that is always two steps ahead of all others – and sets the standards.
A federation that governs world politics and, during conflicts, sends its cowboys into foreign countries to "quickly make things right!"

What? Fiction?

Are the "right-wingers" now the ones leading the country into the future?
Or rather, back into the past? And what are they doing there?

Stop!

What on earth has happened to the American dream – that it has turned into a nightmare?
Who smoked what, and when?
The news on all channels shows a picture of the United Embarrassed States of America, which bursts the bubbles of most memories from earlier decades. The dream of unlimited possibilities has become the reality of unlimited cruelty.
Damn it – who dug up the handbook of autocracy and fascism and declared it the top bestseller?

Holy shit!

Hey, you cowboys – what the heck are you doing there? What?
These ICE cowboys are arresting everything and everyone that looks like criticism – or even smells like it?
Is the press being blackmailed?
Schools and universities too?
Are allied states declared targets for hostile takeover?

Are prominent and other pedophiles sitting at the levers of power and above the law?
Are our teenage daughters and sons living more dangerously in the 21st century than ever before?

A fictional conclusion from the famous horror author Stephen King: "I'm seriously thinking about a career change. I could never have imagined such brutal nonsense. Or wanted to."

There must be a small portion lying around somewhere. Where did I put it again?
Ah, look – there it is.
The package of peaceful, powerful human resistance.
It may look a bit dusty – but it still works perfectly.

On the fine print of the package, at the very bottom, it still reads clearly:
"Autocracies don't last as soon as peaceful resistance makes itself felt."

And a second view at the current situation – in the USA, in Iran, in Gaza – shows: The world is rising up. People are gathering. Thousands are taking to the streets for democracy, showing themselves in parliament, making themselves heard in the media.

Okay. The resistance package is dusted off.
It is ready for use. Everywhere. Let’s go.
